The Dump: Life for Many

Life in Guatemala is challenging for the majority of people. High poverty and malnutrition rates, and low employment all lead to despairing conditions that affect the most vulnerable. Even if employed, the average person is earning barely enough to afford beans and rice.

Any opportunity that promises help for the next meal will gain the attention of those in need. Too many children and mothers spend their days in landfills, scavenging for recyclable items to sell and occasionally for something to eat. It is a blessing that Hope of Life has set up feeding programs to bring meals to the landfill.

We realize that were it not for the help children are receiving here, many would still be living in heartbreaking situations. This video will give you some perspective on life for many in Guatemala.
